Carole McLemore
Carole has a Bachelor’s of Science (B.S.) degree in Biomedical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University and a Master’s in Business Administration (M.B.A.) also from Louisiana Tech University. She is currently completing her Ph.D. dissertation in Engineering Management at University of Alabama in Huntsville.
Carole has worked at NASA/Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, for 22 years. During this time, she processed Shuttle middeck and cargo bay payloads as the Systems Analysis and Integration Lab Lead. The majority of her time at Marshall has been spent on the International Space Station program. In this capacity, she has developed and built both ground and flight hardware for payload experiment developers and flight systems. Carole also coordinated Logistics and Maintenance of hardware common to both ISS systems and payload developers. As the Integration Project Manager for EXPRESS Rack payloads on Station, she managed the integration of the first two microgravity payload racks on the ISS which consisted of both U.S. and international experiments. She also managed the initial integration of the first life sciences payloads into the two Habitat Holding Flight Racks before this program was cancelled. Carole joined the Research and Development arena two years ago when she became Project Manager of the In Situ Resource Utilization, Fabrication and Repair, and Dust activities at Marshall. This encompasses developing and characterizing dust and lunar simulants and advancing technologies in the areas of Fabrication, Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE), Repair, and Resources Extraction with the goal of returning to the Moon and learning to live off the land in preparation for eventually going to Mars and beyond.
